Tone Vigeland, known as “The Grande Dame of Scandinavian Jewelry”, began making jewelry in the early 1950s in Oslo. Her infamous ‘Sling’ earring, an ear cuff without posts or screw-backs, were originally designed in 1953 and were produced through the 1970s. Vigeland’s jewelry and sculptures are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the Smithsonian. Now in her 80s, Tone Vigeland continues to make art and jewelry today.
